The City of White Rock on Friday, Aug. 20, after routine testing by the city's private-sector water utility, Epcor Utilities Inc., disclosed E. coli contamination to its residents.



The end of the month is now at hand and no better news has been purported on the recent ecoli outbreak found in White Rock's water supply. Epcor, the City of White Rock's water supplier, has clearly stated they still do not know where / what the source of ecoli is coming from. They have isolated the resevoir where it stems from however.

If one remembers the Walkerton Water disaster, one would remember that this was not something that was corrected in a couple weeks. Many people had died and many found themsleves extremely sick from that experience.

There are many things one can learn from such disasters.

For those who have Water Ionizers

If you a Water Ionizer, Chances are your Filter inside your system will not do the job when it comes to removing bacteria and virus' from the water before you consume it.

Most Water Ionizer filters are from .5 microns - .1 microns.

The smallest bacteria known to man is .02 microns. This means that you need a filter that is .01 microns to prevent any bacteria or virus' breaching your drinking water.

Some filter systems for water ionizers claim to have .01 micron filter capability.
